Andrea Wuya is a Kuskokwim Yup’ik and Orutsararmiut Native Council (ONC) Tribal Member. She was raised in rural western Alaska in the village Eek, before she and her immediate family relocated to Bethel, AK where she currently resides amongst her Fiance and their two dogs. Andrea’s maternal family is the Berrys from Kasigluk and Napakiak. Her paternal family are the Wuyas/Nicholais from Eek and the Morgans from Chuathbaluk. Andrea graduated from Bethel Regional High School in 2016 at which time she left Bethel to further her education at Sacramento State University. After completing two years of general education, she returned to Bethel to continue taking classes and is in pursuit of a BA degree. 

Before signing on with AKNWRC as Communications and IT Specialist in 2023, Andrea occupied Reception, Tribal Justice Program Coordinator and Community Service’s Outreach Coordinator positions between the years of 2019–2023 with local Bethel Tribal Organization, Association of Village Council Presidents (AVCP) . While working closely with Tribal Courts, Village Public Safety Officers, Tribal Administrators and Councils she helped Tribal Courts acquire grant funding, AVCP launched an annual youth internship, rural emergency response, MMIP advocacy, and networking to advertise; programs, trainings, grant opportunities, and public services offered to Alaskan residents. 

Andrea is the middle child of two sisters. She loves spending time with family: fishing, hunting, berry picking, and traveling on the river. Her passions are influenced by her surroundings and upbringing and include advocacy, bridging communications, uplifting native voices, and cultural healing methods. Among primary passions, Andrea is a self-proclaimed artist with mediums such as beading, sewing, carving, graphic art, and work with traditional material. She works toward helping Alaskans find healthy and safe environments for themselves and future generations to prosper sustainably and happily.
